Following the recent signing of a memorandum of understanding between Bayat Energy and Schlumberger, discussions will soon begin regarding the sale or lease of oilfield equipment for use within Afghanistan. Schlumberger is a leading global oil and gas industry supplier, providing the widest range of products and services in the industry, including integrated project management, information solutions, and technology.

Bayat Energy focuses on oil and gas exploration and production in the large, and largely undiscovered, reserves in Afghanistan’s northern provinces. A major part of the company’s mission is to conduct its exploration and development activities in an ethical, safe, and environmentally responsible manner. However, this goal requires the use of the latest technology and expertise, which are not always immediately available in Afghanistan’s developing economy. An oilfield equipment sale or lease arrangement with Schlumberger would therefore be a critical step in ensuring that Bayat Energy can proceed safely and securely with exploration and development. Furthermore, such an agreement would be yet another example of Bayat Energy’s focus on pursuing world-class strategic collaborations in order to best develop Afghanistan’s resources for the country’s long-term benefit.
