In December 2011, Afghan Wireless Communication Company (AWCC) confirmed that international pop music sensation Valy Hedjasi, a native of Afghanistan, has agreed to serve as the telecommunications company’s Brand Ambassador. According to both parties, the pairing is a good fit. Valy remembers growing up with a mobile phone on the AWCC network and recalls how important it was for him to be able to connect with his friends so easily. AWCC shares in the national pride of Valy, who has seen success in the international music scene.

Breaking into pop music with his singles “Delama Shekoondi” and “Bia Tu” from his first album, After Love, Valy Hedjasi went on two international tours, one in 2007 and one in 2008, that spanned four continents. In February 2011, Valy released his second album, Crazy In Love, which has also garnered critical acclaim in Afghanistan and abroad.

AWCC plans to make Valy’s music widely available to his fan base in Afghanistan through concerts, special appearances, and AWCC customer appreciation events. Furthermore, the company will offer Valy ringback tones and music downloads, as well as free promotional songs by the pop singer. AWCC reported in December that Valy has made plans to return to Afghanistan in the near future for a tour and to join the company for some significant announcements.

Founded by entrepreneur and philanthropist Ehsan Bayat, AWCC provides mobile network services to 4 million residents of Afghanistan. As Chairman, Ehsan Bayat has led the company to become Afghanistan’s leading provider of telecommunications services and one of the country’s largest private employers.
